George Black

George Black Associate Director Player , Coaching Education

George Black is a passionate, accomplished, and results-driven soccer coach with over 25 years of experience across high school and club-level coaching. He has built a strong reputation for developing successful teams and nurturing individual player growth, earning multiple championships and coaching honors throughout his career. Known for his leadership, mentorship, and organizational abilities, George excels in both academic and athletic environments, making him a respected figure in student-athlete development.

His coaching career includes a current role as Varsity Assistant Coach at Notre Dame High School in Lawrenceville, NJ, where he helped lead the team to a #17 ranking in the NJ.com Top 20 and was part of the 2024 Non-Public Coaching Staff of the Year. In 2024, he also served as U17 Boys Coach at Players Development Academy (PDA) and will step into the role of Zone 1 Coordinator in 2025. From 2014 to 2023, George was Head Coach at Red Bank Catholic High School, following nearly a decade as an assistant. During his tenure, the team won two Non-Public A State Championships (2016, 2020), a Shore Conference title (2019), and six division championships. In 2019, the program achieved a #8 NJ.com ranking, and in 2023, he was honored as the Shore Conference Central Division Coach of the Year. He also led Robbinsville Union as Head Coach from 2016 to 2021 and Mercer FC from 2012 to 2016.

As a player, George competed at Wesley College from 1999 to 2003 and previously starred at Notre Dame High School, earning All-Mercer County, All-Division, All-Area, and All-State recognition in 1998. He was part of the school’s 1997 Non-Public A South Championship team. His club soccer career spanned over a decade with West End Green Lightning, culminating in a NJ State Cup Championship in 1996.

Beyond the field, George brings a wealth of teaching experience. He currently teaches Health and Physical Education at Notre Dame High School, where he also serves on the Curriculum and Scheduling Committees and mentors students. Prior to this, he spent two decades at Red Bank Catholic High School teaching Physical Education, Wellness, Leadership, and Driver’s Education, in addition to working as a Student Advisor in the Guidance Department.

George holds a USSF D Coaching License, CPR/First Aid certification, and a Standard NJ Teaching Certification in Health and Physical Education. His skill set includes player development, mentorship, curriculum development, and student advising, positioning him as a well-rounded and impactful leader in both education and athletics.
