Mike Gulino

Michael Gulino, MA, MS. Ed, CAA,

Executive Lead Consultant Athletic Department Education

Retired Director of Health, Physical Education, Athletics, and Health Services for the Byram Hills School District, with 45 years of teaching and coaching experience.

Assumed a failing athletic program in 2001 and changed the culture of the program from transactional to transformational.  The program won numerous awards from the State of New York for Sportsmanship, Scholar-Athlete Awards, and League, Sectional, Regional, and State titles, including student-athletes who were nationally ranked competitors.

 Coached track and field, cross country, and football for 25 years at junior high school,  junior varsity, and varsity levels.

 Upon retirement in 2015, Mike was recruited by 3 different school districts to serve as the interim Director of Athletics to change the culture of the athletic program.

 During this time, he mentored five Directors of Athletics who were struggling or new to the role.

 A member of the national teaching faculty of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association and co-author of LTC 630, “Contest Management Planning and Methods”, LTC 631, “Emergency Management of Interscholastic Athletic Events.” Author and Chairperson of LTC 628 “Mental Health and Wellness of the Student-Athlete.”

 Adjunct professor at Lehman College at the City University of New York.  Teaching courses in Mental Health, Parenting, Health and Human Behavior, Health Education and Promotion, and Program Planning and Development.

 Inducted into the Byram Hills Sports Hall of Fame and Pearl River Sports Hall of Fame.
